El Capitan is proud of its rural 1959 beginnings in which its top-notch agricultural program is rooted. As East San Diego County has grown and diversified, El Capitan's innovative and nationally-recognized programs have grown right along with it. Today, thanks to its committed, forward-thinking, and student-focused staff and leadership, El Capitan High School prepares all of its students for whatever bright future awaits them.
Over its 60-year history, Granite Hills High School has earned a reputation as an academic powerhouse. It is recognized as a California Distinguished School and is regularly ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one of America's best high schools. Perhaps more impressive than GHHS's many famous alumni is the fact that so many Eagle graduates choose to stay, become leaders, and serve their neighbors in East County.
