The School Choice window for the 2024/2025 school year is now closed.

The information below may be helpful as you plan for the 2024/2025 School Year. 

The process described below is for families registering their first GUHSD high school student. If you have a returning student or otherwise already have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account with GUHSD, please use the Infinite Campus Parent Portal* to register your student. For more information, see the Registration page. 
There are four main steps to registering your student with the district, plus an additional three steps if you want to participate in School Choice - seven steps in all. 
Note: You may have received a packet of supplemental registration paperwork for one of our high schools from your student's elementary or middle school. This paperwork is a supplement for the individual school. It does not replace the required, online registration.

Each of these steps is described below, along with dates from the previous School Choice window dates.  Please note, you must temporarily allow (unblock) pop-ups

 Step 1: Complete an online registration for your student.

Step 1: Complete Online Registration 

All students must be registered in the district before they can attend.You must complete the form online, but several of our schools have Chromebook kiosks you can visit if you don't have access to a computer.
Your student will be assigned a school based on your family's address. If you want a different school, complete the registration before the deadline so that you can participate in School Choice. 
Important: If you have older students, you may already have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. If so, use your existing portal account to begin the registration process. Otherwise, view the Student Registration Help page before beginning the online registration. 
December 1, 2023 -  February 9, 2024 if participating in School Choice ** 
December 1, 2023 -  July 21, 2024 if remaining at the school of residence***
 Step 2: Wait for email notification of registration approval.  Step 2: Wait for Registration Processing 
After submitting an online registration for a new student, wait for the registration to be processed. You will receive an email. (Be sure to check your Spam or Junk folder.)
If you have not received the Registration Processed email within five to ten working days, contact us at 619-956-4357 so that we can check to make sure everything is OK. 

3 to 10 working days after submitting registration
 Step 3: Create Infinite Campus parent portal account after receiving the email invitation.

Step 3: New Parents: Wait for Parent Portal Email

A day or two after you receive the Registration Processed email, parents who do not yet have an Infinite Campus account will receive an email invitation to create a portal account. If you are planning on participating in School Choice, you will need an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. If you do not receive the email, contact us at 619-956-4357.
If you have previously had a student in our district, you may not receive an email because you may already have an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. If you don't know how to access your account, contact 619-956-4357.

1-2 days after registration approval
 Step 4: Create your Infinite Campus account.
 Step 4: Create a Parent Portal account.  
Click the link in the portal invitation email to create an Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. This is a one-use link, and it generally works better on home computers than on work ones. Set up a username and a password that you can remember. Even if you do not participate in School Choice, you will need the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to monitor you student's grades, behavior, and more.

 Step 5: Submit School Choice requests.

Step 5 (Optional): Make School Choice Requests During the Window

If you want to request a different school for your student, access School Choice in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal and submit your requests before the deadline.
Note: Once you have successfully submitted your School Choice request, you will see a status of "Currently Unavailable" until after school choice results have been posted.

Step 7: Log in to your Infinite Campus parent portal to accept or decline the School Choice result 

Step 7: Accept the Assigned School

If you were assigned your first, second, or third choice school, your student will be automatically enrolled with no need to accept.
However, if you were assigned your fourth choice school, you must accept that school before the deadline. If you do not, your student will remain at the school that was assigned based on your residence. The school choice results email will provide information about how to accept the school.

* Do not use your student's account. 
** Recommended deadline. Submissions after this time may not allow sufficient time for you to meet the hard deadline for School Choice. 
*** Online registrations for the school of residence (2024-2025 school year) will be accepted after this date. However, late submissions can impact a student's start date.
