Overview

Overview

Think of Announcements as news items or blog posts.
They are:
  • shorter than full articles.
  • can include a single image
  • can include links to other resources
  • have a prescribed shelf-life.
  • can be searched and found after their life as a feature expires.

A collection of announcements is called a Feed. Feeds are generally associated with a site or a sub-site. Categories can be thought of like hashtags used in social media to make it easier to search feeds by common topic or theme.

Announcements are NOT managed on web pages. The Unrestricted HTML card for Announcements merely controls where a feed appears on a page. You do not want to touch the code for Announcements on a page.

When you first log in, select Announcements from the main menu. Do not double-click your site or sub-site.
See the video above for details.

If your site hosts more than one feed, say general announcements on the home page and an athletics feed on your athletics page, you can identify announcements that you want to push to one or both. You do not have to repeat the post to place it in both areas.
Priority

Priority

There is a checkbox that allows you to assign an announcement a priority so that the message isn't displayed strictly in the chronological order it was posted.
When you check the box, you can choose from Medium or Low priority. What about High?

Explanation from CatapultK12

Mid priority will push an announcement above an announcement with low priority, and district announcements with high priority will be pushed above announcements with mid and low priority. If no priority is selected for an announcement, it will be the lowest on the priority scale - in fact, it will be below low priority.

So, Mid=High, Low=Medium and No Setting = Low
This is the highest priority one can set for a school announcement.
