Help for Families with No or Insufficient Internet

Both Cox Communications and AT&T offer low cost internet options for families who need internet assistance. See below for information about both programs.

Cox Communications

Cox Communications is taking steps during the COVID-19 crisis to help families without Internet or who have insufficient Internet to access a Cox managed hotspot or to acquire low cost home internet service. These steps include:

New plans, including a low-income internet tier with no annual contract
For 60 days, waiving late fees and not terminating service to any residential customer because of an inability to pay their bills due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Temporary support for residential customers in the company’s Starter, StraightUp Internet and Connect2Compete packages, including:
- Increased speeds
- Remote desktop support to provide assistance for loading new applications that may be needed during this time, including online classroom support applications and web conferencing services.
- Offering the first month free to new customers of Connect2Compete, Cox’s low-cost internet product for low income families with school-aged children. (Usually $9.95/month.)
- Fast-tracking the qualification process for Connect2Compete and partnering with PCs for People so that families can purchase discounted refurbished computers, including certain software applications - usually for $100 or less. AT&T Connect

The AT&T Connect program continues to offer affordable internet programs for families. If your household includes someone who participates in the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) or is a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipient, you may qualify for their program which includes no annual commitment, no deposit, no installation fee, and no charge for an in-home Wi-Fi modem.

Additionally, in response to the public health crisis, Access from AT&T is temporarily offering:

• Two months of free service, $5/mo. or $10/mo. plus taxes and fees thereafter, depending on your speed, for new Access customers who order by April 30, 2020.
• Expanded eligibility based on income and to households participating in National School Lunch Program/‌Head Start
• Waiving of all home internet data overage fees
