Japanese 1C/2C is a course taught through a distance learning program.  It covers communication fundamentals of the Japanese language, giving equal emphasis to reading, writing, listening and speaking. Realistic lessons covering events that most students encounter daily offers a context from which they are able to read and converse with others in Japanese.  Tapes and commercials of actual live broadcasts from Japan serve to enhance instruction and to highlight cultural differences between east and west.  Students will also be encouraged to increase their awareness of the international careers and roles of responsibility for the next century.  This full year course is designed for students in grades 9 through 12.  This course meets the UC AE@ and AF@ requirement.

This course is an intermediate, second-year level course taught through a distance learning program. Students increase their fluency and listening comprehension.  Various guests, tapes, and videos will cover the cultural element of instruction.  Students are to call in regularly for the oral practices.  This course meets the UC AE@ and AF@ requirement.
