The American Bill of Rights (1789)
After the American colonies
won the revolution against England, a new constitution was written. The first
ten amendments, or changes, to that constitution are together called the Bill
of Rights. In them, the Founding Fathers put into law certain guarantees so the
new government would not abuse its power. By studying them, we can see reasons
for the American Revolution.
Note: Some amendments have several reasons; your notes
should have more than ten amendments.
