Process: Group Roles
Country/Organization Staff
- President/Chairman (1) - You will be in charge of coordinating
the group and ensuring that the required products are completely in a timely
manner. Additionally, you are expected to be generally aware of all of the
issues and should review (albeit briefly) all of the resources provided for
the other roles in the group. Last, you will coordinate and lead all group
discussions.
- Secretary/Organizer (1) - You will work closely with the
President/Chairman to coordinate the completion of the various elements of
the project. You will check to ensure that all group members have submitted
their reports at the end of each phase. Last, you will keep notes and records
on key points (acquired through research and the three scenarios) that need
to be considered Peace Treaty phase.
- Nuclear Experts (2) - You are part of the intellengisa.
While you are aware of the dangers of nuclear weapons, you also know the role
they play in the diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan. Your role
involves researching the weapons of mass destruction held by both nations
and evaluating their potential use.
- Kashmir Residents (2) - Kashmir has long been at the center
of the tensions between India and Pakistan. For the India and Pakistan groups,
your role will be to support your nation. You hope to end the fighting and
become peacefully assimilated.
Kashmir Observer - For the United Nations group, you will
act as an observer and examine the potential for an independent Kashmir separate
from India and Pakistan.
- Terrorism Experts (2) - The subcontinent has long dealt
with the horrors of terrorism. Your role will be to research methods on countering
terrorist groups operating out of Pakistan, Kashmir, and clandestinely in
India.
- Citizens/Observers (2) - For India and Pakistan, you are
proud citizens of your respective nations. While you know that peace between
the two nations is necessary, you are unwilling to see your country give too
much away. Too much has happened since the division of British India that
you cannot forget. You will argue, angrily at times, that you hold the moral
high ground. For the United Nations group, you are UN diplomats that have
witnessed the extreme nationalism and hope to keep popular opinion focused
on the positives of the peace process.
