The Process

  1. You will receive a copy of you the first part of your child’s life on the first day. Your teacher will then outline the requirements of the project and give you an overview of the web site.

  2. Go through the provided Holocaust topic web sites and fill out the Children of the Holocaust grid. For each topic take notes in the appropriate grid box. Be sure to consider the following questions as you read the information and view the images.

    • What are the basic facts about this topic?
    • What was life like for the Jews?
    • What specific obstacles did they face?
    • How might your child been specifically affected?
    • What other information about this topic is interesting?
    • Describe any images that are especially compelling or could be used as part of your story.

  3. Have your Children of the Holocaust grid stamped/checked off by your teacher.

  4. Using your Anti-Semitism notes, Children of the Holocaust grid, and Resistance and Rescue notes create a basic outline of your story. Be sure that the chronology of your story fits the actual events of the Holocaust.

  5. Have your teacher check off your outline.

  6. Using your notes and the resources on the web site, write your story.

  7. You may add original images or photographs taken from the Internet to expand your story. Do not add images simply to add images, make sure they fit the your child’s story.
