Assignment: Students write a poem or a letter from the front as if they are a soldier in World War I. Students reacted to the images of the war, a reading from Johnny Got His Gun, life in the trenches, and poetry from the war (including Wilfred Owen's Dulce Et Decorum Est and John McCrae's In Flander's Fields).
