Meet Jeffrey Base Bien

During the first couple months of school, Mr. McDowell's world history classes pooled together over a $300.00 to sponsor two child through Children International. Students gave up their lunch money and allowances to help someone less fortunate than themselves.

Through correspondence with
Jeffrey, students will develop an understanding of life outside of Santee, CA, especially in developing nations.

Family

Both parents, two brothers, and a sister

His parents both work, his father as a laborer and his mother as a Housekeeper.

Education

Jeffrey is lucky enough to be currently enrolled in school. His favorite subject is reading.

Geographic location

Cagraray Island, Philippines

Home life

Jeffrey lives in a one bedroom house. There are no beds in the house, everyone sleeps on mats on the bamboo floor. The walls are also made of bamboo with the roof being made of palm leaves.

His community shares a well and his family does not have electricity. The cooking (and heating of the house) is done with a wood burning stove.
