Announcements
are easily added via the Control Panel. Users can choose to view announcements
by day, week, month, or all. The instructor can also make the announcements
available for only certain dates.
News
is easily added via the Administration Menu. News is categorized by topic;
each topic is assigned an icon. Can display/read chronologically or by
topic. This would be helpful when presenting content-based information
and logistical information.
Additional information can be added in a secondary textbox, which would be linked to the primary textbook. This would allow for a longer article to be introduced on one page and continued on a second page.
Comments can be added by students to the news articles.
Archived news stories can be listed in the right or left columns. An archive calendar can also be added to either column.
Advantage: PostNuke
While BlackBoard is very simple, it does nothing more. PostNukes allows topic icons, comments, number of times read, a continuation option, and a print link.
