To post or edit content, the instructor must access the Control Panel. Up to three content sections types (i.e. Course Information and Assignments) can be added. While these sections each have links on the main menu that bring the learner to a different area, information is added in the same way. Content can be added as a standalone assignment in the main menu, as part of a learning unit, or in folder. Instructors would want to use either the folders or learning units to avoid cluttering the main screen of the section. The learning unit choice allows the teacher to set up the order students will interact with the different content types. |
The best way to add content is the PagEd module. While not specifically designed for educational purposes, this module allows teachers to create lesson templates and efficiently organize content. As with many of the other PostNuke modules, PagEd’s power exceeds most instructors needs. In addition to publishing pages, topics and news can be added. The creation of pages is relatively straightforward. After accessing the module, the instructor clicks on the “Create New Page” button. Selecting or designing a template is done through this process. Advantage: PostNuke While BlackBoard has a solid content section, PostNuke is much more dynamic. One of the key advantages is the ability to place the lesson information in the left or right columns. To avoid clutter, you can create springloaded menus. |
