An unconference.
EdCampSD is an unconference that will take place on January 13 and 14, 2012 at The Children’s School in La Jolla, California. Come one day, come two, or come spend an extra-long weekend in San Diego! We look forward to hosting a diverse assembly of people interested in all topics related to education. Our crowd will include teachers, parents, students, and administrators. There will be representatives from early childhood, primary, secondary, and post-secondary education. Librarians, museum curators, and everyone else are encouraged to attend. Visitors will be arriving from various parts of Southern California and beyond.
What is an unconference?
We like Wikipedia’s definition: “An unconference is a participant-driven meeting.” It’s a gathering that tries “to avoid one or more aspects of a conventional conference, such as high fees, sponsored presentations, and top-down organization.” For more information about how EdCampSD will be run, see this description.
What is the Cost?
EdCampSD is free. If you would like to purchase something for lunch, food trucks will be available each day.
What Should I Bring?
Bring friends. Bring your favorite devices (digital or analog). If you bring a laptop, tablet, or smartphone, you will be able to access the session board online, tweet, take notes, and view websites mentioned throughout the day.
How Do I Register?
Click over to the EdCampSD registration page to reserve a space. Registration is free, but limited. You might also be interested in attending “An Evening with Alfie Kohn” on Thursday, January 12.
