Grossmont's Big Night brought our entire community together to recognize
our Academic League Stars
Superintendent Bob Collins (center) worked with Vince
Scimone (L) and Scott Patterson (R) to make Spaghetti
Bolognese for Grossmont's Big Night.

What was also very special about Grossmont’s Big Night, was that it brought our entire community together to recognize our Academic League Stars. It was also an opportunity for our entire community to recognize our Academic League coaches. Like athletic coaches, they contribute so much to these teams, and as Dick Beech remarked, “there is no compensation sufficient for the time, effort and energy they put into this effort.” But on this night, each coach knows the gratitude our District and the entire community has for their efforts.

The final part of the evenings program recognized Dick Beech, Steve Haiman and Ruth Weiss for their contributions in keeping the Academic League a strong and vibrant part of Grossmont Activities. Dick Hoy was also recognized for his ongoing dedication to the Academic League. After the evening ended, one could only reflect on the sense of community that Grossmont is. Teachers, administrators, students, parents, Board Members, classified staff – all working together for a common purpose. It was a Big Night for Grossmont.
