New Character Education/Leadership Program

The District is launching a comprehensive character education program that addresses the “Pursuing Victory with Honor” component of Character Counts! and which adds two additional elements to the student athlete component. The first is the inclusion of student auxiliary groups. The second element is leveraging student athletes and students participating in support groups as ambassadors.

What are the “Six Pillars of Character Education”?
• Trustworthiness
• Respect
• Responsibility
• Fairness
• Caring
• Citizenship

Who will be trained?
• ASB Advisors/Leadership Teachers
• Athletic Team Coaches
• Band Directors & Drill Team Coaches
• Cheer Advisors & Coaches

Each group will be trained to incorporate the “Six Pillars of Character Education” into lesson plans/practices and events.

Where & When?

On May 28th we conducted the first in-service training at Instructional Resources. Summer school program teachers/coaches attended this six-hour course taught by the Josephson Institute of Ethics.

Our goal is to ensure that students conduct themselves accordingly and understand the importance of values and ethics both on and off the school campus.
