Edusoft Assessment Management System Now Available for GUHSD Teachers!

Edusoft is a "web-based student assessment platform" which was recently implemented in response to requests from GUHSD teachers for a diagnostic assessment tool to help meet the requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act. According to the Edusoft website, "San Francisco-based Edusoft, Inc. was founded with the mission to use the power of modern technology to attack the bottom line of education: helping teachers teach students to learn." The EduSoft system enables Grossmont Union High School District teachers to rapidly and easily deliver, score, and analyze standards-aligned benchmark assessments. EduSoft streamlines assessment development, delivery, scoring, reporting, and analysis into one electronic data management system.

The immediate results from students' assessments are broken down by standard (or reporting cluster), as well as student sub groups. This detailed information supports teachers' immediate intervention and differentiated instruction with students to improve student achievement, including the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) and the California Standards Test (CST).

Within minutes of completing an assessment, either on-line or paper to web, the tests are scanned and scored so teachers can access customizable reports via a password-protected website. This process enables teachers to immediately view scores and pinpoint instructional needs at the student, grade, school, or district level.

Stephanie Sellers was among the first group of GUHSD teachers to receive Edusoft training over the summer. Stephanie explains how Edusoft has benefitted Valhalla American Studies teachers. "Currently we, the American Studies Team at Valhalla, have used Edusoft to create a diagnostic test based on the most tested State standards. This was to determine the levels of our students so that we can gear our curriculum towards their needs. We have also used Edusoft for our most recent unit exam, which is an interdisciplinary exam containing questions from history and literature. This allowed us to show students the areas where they excelled and where they did not. It also allowed us to evaluate what teachers did differently in their classses that might have resulted in their classes acheiving higher scores."

The EduSoft system also provides a sophisticated and easy-to-read item analysis tool to ensure test and item reliability and validity. For more information about this exciting curriculum management tool, visit the Edusoft website, or contact one of the Dedicated Account Managers, Brenda Garcia or Lori Morris, who can provide teacher training, including working onsite with specific requests.
