Message to Grossmont Parents  Concerning the Safety of Your Children
March 8, 2007

On Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at approximately 3:20 p.m. a third female Grossmont student was attacked by a male assailant.  The other attacks took place on January 16 and February 15, 2007.  Fortunately we have been lucky and none of the female students have been seriously injured.  The three male assailants all have different descriptions.  The description of this particular assailant is approximately 6’1 in height, olive white or light Hispanic, no facial hair, short hair, medium build, and alcohol on their breath.

The GUHSD made a police report and has requested the additional presence of law enforcement between the hours of 6:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 2:58 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  On Wednesdays additional law enforcement is being requested to be present from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  In addition, the GUHSD has requested a meeting with the head of the San Diego Transit Police Authority the El Cajon Police Chief and the La Mesa Police Chief to better determine what can be done to provide a higher level of safety and protection to your children.

Please direct your students to walk in groups and never alone.  Please try to eliminate your student from waiting for you in the dark after school or school events.  The GUHSD will keep you informed of any future developments.  Thank you.
