Parents may conveniently
make on-line payments from home, allowing their student to
purchase food without the use of cash. This program was
implemented August 20,2007.
Parents may establish
a school lunch account at www.mySchoolbucks.com.
For those who do not wish to pay for meals on-line, the standard
cash payment system will remain in effect at all schools.
The Grossmont Union High School District Food Services Department
is now on a computerized "Touch N Serve" Point-of-Sale
software called "Schoolhouse". Students are able
to go to any computerized point-of-sale to receive a national
school meal or ala carte item. All students must use their school
ID card or ID number to make purchases. The primary benefits
of the new system are that lines move faster, participation
has increased and, most importantly, needy students may participate
at no cost without other students knowing their qualification
category.
A component of Schoolhouse called mySchoolBucks will allow
students and parents to pre-pay for meals through a credit and
debit-card system that is integrated with the Point-of-Sale
system. Parents may conveniently make on-line deposits from
home, allowing their student to purchase food without the use
of cash. For more information on mySchoolBucks, please call the Food Service
office at 619-644-8183.
Lunch meal pricing is now tiered according to the price of
the entrée: $2.25, $2.50, $2.75, and $3.25.
Breakfast pricing will increase from $1.50 to $1.75 for the
2007-2008 school year. This increase is necessary because food
costs continue to rise and fuel costs are unstable.
Early in the 2007-2008 school year all students will complete
a written assessment of their nutrition and physical activity.
This assessment will be conducted at school and will ask your
student about his/her nutrition and physical activity both at
school and during non-school hours. The results of the assessment
will be used to examine curriculum and physical education needs
and to provide direction for expansion of District Wellness
Policy.
