Subjects taught: Nurse Refresher/Reentry; IV Therapy; Understanding Cardiac Arrhythmias; Advanced Cardiac Life Support Several years ago, Ms. McBride was enrolled as a student in the HOC Nurse Refresher/Reentry program. Upon completion of the class, she was asked to become a teacher at HOC, which she did in 2000. She started as a substitute teacher in the Vocational Nursing Program and a part-time instructor in the Nurse Refresher/Reentry program. She currently coordinates and teaches four Nursing courses: Nurse Refresher/Reentry; IV Therapy; Understanding Cardiac Arrhythmias; and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Concurrently, she works as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at Kaiser Hospital. In addition to her Nursing degree, Ms. McBride holds a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Sociology. An RN since 1969, Ms. McBride has experience in critical care, acute and chronic hemodialysis, and emergency nursing. Her administrative experience includes serving as Assistant Director of Nursing at Alvarado Hospital and Department Head at the American Cancer Society. Ms. McBride is married and she and her husband have raised six children. She now enjoys her five grandchildren and a full life of family, teaching, nursing, volunteer activities, travel, gardening, and reading. Her goals in life are to take golf lessons and learn how to make a quilt! |
