Medical Assistant/Administrative

Annual Salary Range in San Diego County: $22,000 - $30,000

Job Description:
The Administrative Medical Assistant plays a crucial role, performing a multitude of tasks that physicians rely on to keep their offices running efficiently. The duties of the Administrative Medical Assistant vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioner’s specialty. Medical Assistants answer telephones, greet patients, update and file patients’ medical records, fill out insurance forms, handle correspondence, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital admission and laboratory services and handle billing and bookkeeping. MAs chart each patient’s medical history, measure height, weight, pulse, respiration, and temperature. They also maintain records, schedule patients, process insurance forms and perform basic bookkeeping.
