Emergency Medical Technician - Basic


Annual Salary Range for single role EMT in San Diego County: $23,000-$30,000
Annual Salary Range for EMT Firefighter in San Diego County: $41,000-$50,000

Job Description:
People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics (EMTs with a higher level of education and training.) Incidents as varied as automobile accidents, heart attacks, drownings, childbirth, and gunshot wounds all require immediate medical attention. EMTs and paramedics provide this vital attention as they care for and transport the sick or injured to a higher level of care, such as an emergency department. EMT-Basics are able to care for patients at the scene of an accident and while transporting patients by ambulance to the hospital under medical direction. The EMT- Basic has the emergency skills to assess a patient’s condition and manage a variety of medical conditions, such as respiratory, cardiac, and trauma emergencies.

  • This course prepares students to take the National Registry Exam to become a licensed EMT.
  • Prerequisite: Certification in American Heart Association Basis
    Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider.
