Grossmont Union High School District

Mission
The mission of the Grossmont Child Development Center is to provide quality care to children in a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment.
We support Grossmont Union High School District Employees by providing an early childhood development program, serving 4 weeks to 5 years. We also provide care for children of Grossmont District students, who are teen parents so that they may focus on graduation from the Grossmont Union High School District and prepare for employment and/or post secondary education.

Philosophy
The Grossmont Union High School District Child Development program was established as a service to families and children of Grossmont High School District. The philosophy of our Infant/Toddler/Preschool Program is based on the belief that each student and child is a worthy individual endowed with certain unique capacities and talents. As a program, we respect and support cultures, ideals, and values of our families in their quest to fostering growth and development. We advocate for children, families, and early education professionals in our program.

At GUHSD Child Development Center, we provide a safe and positive environment in which learning is encouraged through activities in a variety of learning centers. Our classrooms are warm and loving with a well trained staff that encourage the progress of each child at their own pace. We provide a balance of teacher-initiated, child-initiated, quiet activities, indoor/outdoor, and large motor activities that stimulate each child’s development, physically, socially, emotionally and cognitive.
We strive to foster strong partnerships with our families which is essential to the growth and development of each individual child. The bond between staff, children, and their families is an integral part of a child’s developmental foundation, which will last their entire lifetime. We strive to create a sense of community that is thoughtful, warm, and all inclusive.
